"Yeah, it looked way outside, but then it was right in the zone."
Phineas[src]

The Baseball Launcher is a launcher device built by Phineas and Ferb to play baseball while wirelessly controling the ball.

History[]

Phineas and Ferb are playing baseball in their backyard. As he is hyped up, Ferb shoots the ball towards his brother's direction, adjusting the projectile's position on the fly in hopes of landing it in the glove to mark a point. Excited, Phineas commemorates when he catches the ball, commenting on the uniqueness of their playstyle. Afterwards, the boys proceed to test the capabilities of their invention, launching a projectile into space. Unbeknownst to them, it hits a spaceship, which ends up landing in the backyard, leading them to meet Meap.

Later in the day, Meap uses one of the launchers to tell Candace the location of his rival Mitch's ship, where the kids had been taken to. Inside, she wields the device as a weapon, eventually taking the chance to free Meap with the ball. Candace drops the launcher upon seeing Meap's mother-in-law following Mitch's defeat ("The Chronicles of Meap").

The launcher is among the Big Ideas recreated to help in the battle against Doofenshmirtz-2. Phineas tries to ambush the evil scientist with it, but it slides away. Trying to get an upper hand, he attempts to grab it, only to be stopped by the dictator, who turns the plan around. At the last moment, Perry tosses a nearby bat, enabling his owner to rebound the ball onto the Other Dimensionator (Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension).

Design[]

The Baseball Launcher is a gun gadget with a baseball glove in the muzzle. Its barrel is blue with dark blue markings, being separated from the other components by white spots. There are four pieces in the launcher; an orange handle with a red strap, a white trigger, an orange joystick, and a red antenna.

Mechanics[]

The Baseball Launcher is based on wireless control. Once the ball is shot, the pitcher can use the joystick to adjust its target aim, allowing for more motion possibilities. This is feasible thanks to an antenna system placed on the launcher and the ball, connecting both.

Background Information[]

  • While playing baseball, Phineas references many habits of the sport; giving the nickname "The Curve" to Ferb, imitating the typical enthusiastic announcer commentary, and exclaiming the popular phrase "the crowd goes wild".
  • Within his commentary, Phineas alludes to the expressions "ninth-inning", "bases loaded", "it's a strike", and "the wind up", the latter being a pitching position.
  • During the test, the ball exits the Earth's orbit, indicating that it hit the planet's escape velocity of 6.96 mi/s (11.2 km/s).
  • Throughout all media, the characters seen wielding a Baseball Launcher are:
