"Life without a phone for Candace Flynn"? But... but, that's me!

— Candace Flynn

Candace has no choice but to go to her brothers for help after she loses her phone for the fifth time. Unbeknownst to her, the phone that they invent for her has a voice activated phone transfer app that sends her to Easter Island. Meanwhile, back at Evil Inc., Dr. Doofenshmirtz invents a "Pick 'Em Up-inator" to pick Vanessa up from class, then he finds Sarcastic Norm Head, the Norm head prototype that has an affinity for sarcasm. Later, Doofenshmirtz and Perry watch an exercise show.

Episode Summary[]

Phineas and Ferb are out in the backyard, planning the most interesting, tallest, and heaviest thing they've ever built. In Candace's room, she is "talking" to Stacy. Linda walks in and Candace runs over to get her new phone, but she is disappointed to find out it only makes phone calls. Since she lost four phones in four months, Linda got her the cheapest one she could find, and she tells Candace that if she loses this one, she's not getting her a replacement. When she leaves Candace hears an explosion and decides she's going to see what Phineas and Ferb are doing, but she accidentally slips on her rug and loses her phone. It safely lands in a pile of leaves, until a contractor comes in on a forklift, dropping a heavy box which breaks the phone. Candace comes down and sees if it still works. Because it doesn't work, Candace asks Phineas and Ferb if they could fix the phone.

In Perry's lair, Major Monogram tells Carl that he received a cell phone message from a hacker, but Carl tells him that he sent the message to him. As Perry arrives, Major Monogram briefs him about Doofenshmitz being "ROTFL". As Perry leaves, Major Monogram sees his cell phone saying a line of seven Qs and Carl explains that his thumb is on the Q button.

At Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated, Doofenshmirtz gets a call from Charlene that he should pick up Vanessa from school, as she is having knee surgery. Doofenshmirtz says he will do it, but he can't go since he is waiting for his exercise show to start. In order to save time, Doofenshmirtz decides to build an -inator to pick up Vanessa instead of him.

Back at the Flynn-Fletcher garage, Phineas and Ferb introduce the cell phone that they made for Candace. They added applications in the cell phone including a rimshot app and a voice-activated transportation system. As Candace arrives, she quickly takes the new cell phone and ignores her brothers about the tutorial for using it since she's a teenager.

Meanwhile, Doofenshmirtz goes to his basement to pick up some parts to build his inator and uncovers Norm's old prototype head. As he reactivates the prototype head, it gives some sarcastic remarks about Doofenshmirtz. Doofenshmirtz picks it up along with the other parts since it was down in the basement for so long.

Candace uses her new cell phone to talk with Stacy who is watching a documentary on Easter Island and wants to go there. Candace asks why she would want go to Easter Island, and the phone automatically transports Candace to Easter Island.

Doofenshmirtz finishes building his inator and calls it the Pick'em up-inator, and explains to the prototype that by simply entering the coordinates in the remote, the Pick'em up-inator will go pick up Vanessa and fly her home. As stated, the inator picks up Vanessa from her school and transports her back to her home in a couple of seconds, much to her surprise. Doofenshmirtz happily gloats over his newfound success. As Perry arrives by wrecking the door with a battering-ram, Doofenshmirtz angrily points out that he only just built an inator to pick up Vanessa and that there was nothing evil about it. Realizing this, Perry decides to join Doofenshmirtz for his exercise program.

At Easter Island, Candace tries to use her new cell phone to go back home, but a bird takes it and places it in its nest. Doofenshmirtz explains to Perry that while doing the exercise, he decided to mass-produce the Pick'em up-inator to make people do what he tells them to.

As Candace climbs down a cliff and tries to get the cell phone, a sea turtle passing by sees Candace dangling from a branch, and hides behind a rock revealing himself as Agent T to contact Carl about Candace so that Carl can inform Perry.

Perry gets the message about Candace, and in a moment of distraction, he uses his tail to lift a dumbbell to hit Doofenshmirtz's foot and untie himself. He then uses the Pick'em up-inator to pick up Candace and send her back home, but the prototype asks Perry to leave the remote to him since he wants to do something with it. Doofenshmirtz recovers from the pain and curses Perry, but later gets a call from Vanessa, thanking him for picking her up.

Candace tries to get the cell phone from the bird, but the branch breaks and she falls off the cliff. The Pick'em up-inator manages to catch her, then gets her across the sea and sends her home.

Candace arrives and hears Linda coming. She freaks out about how her cell phone is gone again, and she says that her life is ruined. Phineas and Ferb then reveal they made another one for her just in case, but the phone activates and sends her to Timbuktu. At the same time, the prototype head uses the Pick'em up-inator to go to Easter Island.

Running Gags[]

I know what we're gonna do today/Hey, where's Perry?[]

Phineas: Ferb, I know what we're gonna do today before we do the other thing that we were gonna do today! Hey, where's Perry?

The "Too Young" Line[]

None.

Ferb's Line[]

Phineas: You know what, Ferb? This is gonna be the most interesting thing we've ever built.
Ferb: And the tallest.
Phineas: Yes, and the tallest.
Ferb: And the heaviest.
Phineas: Wow, we're chatty today, aren't we?
Phineas: Well, you were right, Ferb. The most interesting thing we ever built was very tall and very heavy, and the guy from the museum was very appreciative.
Ferb: I still can't believe it fit in his truck.

What'cha doin'?[]

Isabella: Hey Phineas, what'cha doin'?
Phineas: We made Candace the best phone ever.
Phineas is teleported to Isabella at a range where their noses appear to be touching.
Isabella: Hey Phineas, what'cha doin'?
Phineas: I'm transporting! Go to garage.
Cell phone: Garage located.
Phineas teleports back to the garage.
Isabella: Dang it!

Oh, there you are, Perry[]

None.

Memorable Quotes[]

Candace: Hey! Wait a minute! All this phone does is ... Make phone calls!
Linda: Sorry Candace. You lost four phones in four months. I got you the cheapest replacement I could find. If you lose this one, it's life without a phone for Candace Flynn.
Candace: Life without a phone for Candace Flynn? But, but that's me!
Candace: (runs to the broken cell phone) Oh no, Phonesy! What have they done to you? (Grabs some pieces of the cell phone) Hello? Hello? Can anyone hear me?

Phineas: (gets close to Candace) I can hear you, Candace.

Candace: Oh great! It still works! Yeah, Phineas, I was just telling you that ... (realizes Phineas and Ferb on her side)
Major Monogram: Oh no! Carl, now it just says qqqqqqq.

Carl: It means your thumb is on the Q-key, sir.

Major Monogram:(takes off thumb)
Buford: She's gone. Let's talk about her.
Baljeet: Focus, Buford.
Candace: (To Phineas) I'm a teenage girl! No one needs to tell me how to use a cell phone.
Phineas: O-kaay. Let's get back to what we were doing before.
Buford: When we get there, let's talk about Candace.
Dr. Doofenshmirtz: (after turning on the light) Hey! It's Norm's old head, the original prototype. I wonder if it still works. (turns the head on)
Old Norm head prototype: Oh, great! Look who's here, it's Doctor-Doof-degree-purchased-on-the-internet-with-my-wife's-money-enshmirtz!
Dr. Doofenshmirtz: Well, I must say it's good to hear your voice again too after so long.
Vanessa: Ugh, I should've known Dad would be late.
The Pick'em up-inator attaches to Vanessa's head
Ugh, what is this? Curse you, unknown rocket helmet transportation thing!
Vanessa is dropped at her front door.
Oh, sweet! I'm home. Never mind, unknown rocket helmet transportation thing!
Candace: (hanging off of a cliff) Talk about a cliffhanger. (Phone makes a "rim shot" sound)
Dr. Doofenshmirtz: I have to hand it to myself, Norm's old head, I am a genius!
Old Norm head prototype: Oh, that's what you see? 'Cause all I'm looking at is a lab coat filled with doonkelberries on the top of which someone has strategically placed a cabbage.
Dr. Doofenshmritz: This is my new inator. I call it my 'Pick-em-up-inator'. (Starts pressing buttons)
Old Norm head prototype: Mmm-hmm. So what does this one do, and where can I hide when it doesn't do it and blows up?
Candace: (climbing down the cliff) Okay, bird! You'd better give me my phone or I'm gonna rock you to sleep, with a real rock! {Phone makes a "rim shot" sound)
Old Norm head prototype: That's great. We can spend the rest of the day working on your personality. Hey, this time, let's try and bump it up to a C minus.

Dr. Doofenshmirtz: You know, I'm starting to remember why I replaced you and put you in storage.
Dr. Doofenshmirtz: (to Perry the Platypus) CURSE YOU, PERRY THE-- (phone rings; Doof picks up; normal voice) Hello? Oh, hi, Vanessa. Yes that was my -inator. Listen honey, I'm in the middle of something, hold on one second. (yells) --PLATYPUS! (normal voice) So, how was class?
Old Norm head prototype: Finally, a place where a head can be a head. Hey, when does the bunny get here with all the eggs? Huh? Yeah? Easter Island? Huh? Huh? Aw, man, where's the bird with the rim-shot app when you need him?

    • Norm has a prototype head.
  • "ROTFL" stands for "Rolling on the floor laughing".

Errors[]

  • When the cell phone falls it lands on a pile of leaves, but when Candace sits next to it the leaves are gone.
Agen T

Agent T's hat error

  • Agent T initially puts on his black fedora. However, when Agent T is seen again, his fedora is the shade of brown used by the other O.W.C.A. agents.
  • When Heinz is walking up the board onto his ship, it zooms in and he isn't going up and he isn't on his ship.
  • After Heinz takes off his coat, his shirt is striped, but it wasn't striped before.
  • When Isabella says "Ready spaghetti", she is far out in the driveway, but when Phineas transports to her she is closer to the garage in the same background.
ERROR Loop is skin colored

The loop closest to Perry's bill is fur colored

  • While Perry is tied up with the jump rope, the loop closest to his bill is his color instead of white.
  • During the line "Wave your arms in the air!", Perry's feet and tail disappear for a split second on his first waving.
  • During the line "Wave your feet", Doofenshmirtz's leg warmers disappear for one frame.
  • When Perry is first tied up, there is nothing behind him. When he gets the message about Candace, there are two barbells and a green ball behind him.
  • In the scene where Carl sees Candace hanging from the branch, there is a leaf at the end, but in the previous scene, there is no leaf.
  • As Candace is launched up into space by the Pick'em up-inator, she is seen taking off from the sea in between the Southeastern coast of Africa, and the island of Madagascar. Easter Island is not a part of Africa, but rather a part of the South American nation of Chile.
  • When Phineas is close to Isabella, his shoes are different and the lines on Isabella's shoes are blue.

Continuity[]

  • Doofenshmirtz uses the same cell phone from "The Beak".

Allusions[]

  • Monsters, Inc. - When Candace is watching her cell phone being destroyed, she reacts in a similar way that Sulley does when he thinks Boo is in the garbage compactor — a scene that, in turn, was inspired from a Warner Bros. cartoon short, Feed the Kitty.
  • Chuck E. Cheese - The prototype head parodies Chuck E. Cheese's catchphrase, "Where a kid can be a kid", when it says "Where a head can be a head".
  • Apollo 17 Mission - As Candace is transported from Easter Island, she is seen receding from the Earth. The view of the Earth is the one taken by the Apollo 17 crew in 1972 on their way to the final lunar mission.
  • Timbuktu - The name of this city in Mali is commonly used as a placeholder for a distant and remote location. Candace uses it with this connotation, and is subsequently teleported to the city.
