The best way to defeat a platypus is to become a platypus!

— Heinz Doofenshmirtz

Dr. Doofenshmirtz turns himself into a platypus to defeat Perry in battle, but finds it’s harder than he ever imagined. Meanwhile, change is afoot when Candace accidentally liquefies herself by coming in contact with Phineas and Ferb’s device that turns solids into liquids.

Episode Summary[]

Phineas, Ferb, Isabella, Baljeet, and Buford are getting smoothies. Buford comments about the smoothies not being as exotic as they could be, and Isabella agrees, giving Phineas and Ferb the idea to do better.

Perry enters his lair through a lengthy tricycle ride. Major Monogram tells Perry that Doofenshmirtz was seen at the library checking out books on Eastern Australia and Hydrostatic Cell Fusion, and sends Perry off to find out why.

In the backyard, Phineas and Ferb present the State-of-the-Matter Transfer Device, which can turn any solid into a liquid, so they can enjoy all sorts of new and unusual flavors. Buford tests it with a chicken and drinks the "liquid poultry". Phineas then decides to try more exotic flavors.

At Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated, Perry is captured. He is then shocked to find out that Doofenshmirtz has turned himself into a platypus. Believing that turning himself into one would make them equally matched, he created the Platyp-inator. To further level the playing field, Doofenshmirtz then traps himself in the same type of trap he has Perry in.

The gang continues to try different flavors. After a while, Candace notices the device in the backyard, and goes to tell Linda. Since Linda is busy doing the laundry, Candace goes to investigate and wait on her. At the same time, Perry and Doofenshmirtz begin to fight.

Candace accidentally activates the machine and gets turned to juice just as Linda comes out, but she strangely doesn't notice the machine before going back in. The gang then comes back, having gone to the store. Baljeet steps on Candace. Phineas thinks that it is cool that Candace got turned into a liquid. Candace asks them to help her change back. Meanwhile, Perry and Doofenshmirtz are worn out from even fighting each other. Doofenshmirtz suggests that they take a break by having tea to cool off. After the tea break is over, the fight resumes once more.

The first attempt to turn Candace back involves pouring her into a bucket and reversing the settings on the device to turn her back into a solid. She is successfully turned back into a solid, but in the shape of the bucket she was in. They figure out that she needs to be back into her original shape to return to her normal self. The kids use a life-size mold of Candace that Buford has to do the trick. They pour Candace into the mold and zap her with the machine. She walks out of the mold, looking like her original self, and goes to try and get them busted.

In the meantime, Doofenshmirtz and Perry are worn out of their energies again, as Doofenshmirtz realizes that he can't win or lose as a platypus, so he decides he needs something stronger. He has the idea to duplicate himself, and shows Perry his Double-inator. While explaining his advantage, Perry knocks Doofenshmirtz into the Double-inator, which sends out a stray beam. The beam then hits Phineas and Ferb's device, which creates a duplicate of it. The devices then zap each other and turn into liquids.

While Doofenshmirtz is distracted, Perry shoves the Platyp-inator into the Double-inator, defeating Doofenshmirtz. Candace tries to show the device to Linda, but only puddles remain. After what appears to be an explosion, Doofenshmirtz is glad to be back to normal. He is then greeted by another Doofenshmirtz, to his surprise.

Phineas: I think we should try something a little more...
Ferb: Foul?
Phineas: Yeah! No, exotic.

What'cha doin'?[]

None.

I know what we're gonna do today/Hey, where's Perry?[]

Isabella: You know? Buford's kind of right. These smoothies are sort of exotic, but I think we can do better. What do you think, Phineas?
Phineas: What do I think? (Ferb tries to talk, but is halted by Phineas) Don't answer that. Guys, I know what we're going to do today! I wonder what kind of smoothie Perry would like.

Oh, there you are, Perry[]

Candace: I'm sorry, Mom, but you've gotta see this! Feast your eyes on...puddles.
Linda: Yeah, I saw them earlier.
Candace: But Mom, they had a machine that would turn things into smoothie and--
Linda: I didn't see it, Candace.
Candace: And Buford had a mold, of me!
Linda: Buford's got molds of all of us, Candace.
Phineas: Oh, there you are, Perry!
(Perry chatters)

Memorable Quotes[]

Phineas: I'm just saying that as a non-sequitur, a talking zebra seems a little...
Isabella: Forced?
Phineas: Yeah, forced.
Baljeet: But Buford, your postcard said that she had a pool.
Buford: She has a patio.
Isabella:(Whispering to Phineas and Ferb) Tomorrow, we should work on Buford's penmanship.
Baljeet: Actually, most would consider dragon-fruit to be that exotic, indeed. (Buford mocks Baljeet with his hand) Known for its dazzling flowers, it is the several.. (Sees Buford mocking him) What are you doing? Stop. Stop that. Stop. Stop it. Stop. (Baljeet starts drinking his smoothie, and Buford mocks him as well) Stop that.
Major Monogram: Come in. Sit down, Agent P. We have a serious problem. It seems that someone, and I'm not saying who, someone has spilled on the couch in the lobby.
Carl: Sir, I--
Major Monogram: A very expensive couch when we bought it in 1985.
Carl: Sir, all I did was turn the cushion over, the stain was already...
Major Monogram: If the responsible party is present...
Carl: Sir, it was Agent M. He spilled a latte in 1990.
Major Monogram: Ugh. We were hoping to get him here a couple of years out of that couch...
Carl: Any who?
Major Monogram: Any who, our surveillance operatives have been getting some mixed signals from Doofenshmirtz. He was observed at the Danville Library, checking out books on Eastern Australia and hydrostatic cell fusion. We haven't come up with any ideas about what he's up to.
Carl: Maybe he's trying to recreate Pangaea, sir.
Major Monogram: Like I said, we haven't come up with anything yet.
Dr. Doofenshmirtz: Well, hello Perry the Platypus! Over here. No, here. Look a little more this way. (Poorly imitates Perry's chatter) What do you think? Huh? I've joined you in the genus Ornithorhynchus. That's right, I am a platypus! (Evil laughter) Yeah, hang on. Let me turn off the dramatic lighting. (claps twice)
Phineas: Isabella, you wanna go next?
Isabella: Why yes, how about a romantic dinner for two. (The device hits the romantic dinner food) Wanna sip, Phineas?
Phineas: Oh, no thanks.
Isabella: Oh, okay I understand. You know you want to keep yourself open to other drink options. I get it.
Phineas: Actually, I didn't want to say anything in front of everybody, but it's I don't like zucchini.
Isabella: Oh.
Linda: Oh, laundry. Sometimes, I feel like our first president because I'm washing a ton. (rimshot) Ah, yeah.
Buford: I don't know, I kinda like her like that. She looks like Cand-berry sauce.
Phineas: We gotta get her back into the right shape before we solidify her. And we're gonna need to adjust the contour in... (realizes what Buford meant and laughs) Cand-berry sauce.
Baljeet: Tell me again, why you have a life-size mold of Candace?
Buford: I've got life-size molds of all my friends.
Isabella: I'm not so sure how I feel about that.
Candace: I'm me, glorious me. You did it, you guys are so... (gasp) o... busted!
Dr. Doofenshmirtz: Curse you, Perry the Platypus! Even though I'm also a platypus at this point, and-- (sighs) I hope this wears off soon. The novelty has worn thin.
Doofenshmirtz: Well at least I'm back to normal.

Doof Double: Me, too.

Doofenshmirtz: Oh, good for yo—Whaaaaaaaaaaaa?

  • This episode aired on Disney Channel On Demand on June 29, 2012.
  • In the UK, the role of the Smoothie Seller was played by the winner of the Disney Aim High competition.[1] Teenage girls Khamari May, Michelle Riley, and Kyra Naylor were the finalists for the part, earning a visit to Pinewood Studios in London to participate in a voice-over masterclass. Riley was ultimately chosen due to her Scottish twang and array of accents impressing the producers.[2][3]

  • During "When Platypi Fight", when Doofenshmirtz and Perry are playing cards, Doofenshmirtz is holding four cards, but when he shows his deck, he has five cards.
  • When the kids are drinking their smoothies, the telephone wire above them isn't connected to anything.

Allusions[]

  • FCC Regulations - The song "When Platypi Fight" has the line "If you're watching at home there's a seven second delay". This is a reference to the Television Delay rule set up by the FCC ever since the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show controversy.
  • Doctor Who - Phineas says that they "reversed the polarity" on their invention. The Third Doctor was known for reversing the polarity several times during the show.
  • "Tastes like chicken" - Buford's comment about the "liquid poultry" tasting like chicken alludes to this expression used when trying to describe the flavor of an unusual food.
