Hey, who's ready for dessert? Doesn't that sound good?

— Linda Flynn-Fletcher

Candace volunteers to help Isabella record her audio book so the boys can continue building their giant, recyclable, rock climbing project as planned, and get busted by mom. Meanwhile, Doofenshmirtz creates a Bring-Out-Dessert-inator which gets people to interrupt what they're doing and bring out dessert.

Episode Summary[]

Phineas and Ferb discuss plans for construction of a rock climbing wall made entirely of natural, organic ingredients with Baljeet. Buford then joins them. Candace comes into the kitchen and asks Linda and Lawrence what they are doing. Linda explains that the rare Bent-Bill Nut-Hatch flock is coming to Danville for the end of their migration path. After learning that the Bent-Bill Nut-Hatches will be landing in the backyard by 4:00 pm, Candace decides that she will use that as an opportunity to bust her brothers.

In the backyard, Candace asks Phineas and Ferb if their project will be out by 4:00 pm, and Phineas confirms it. Isabella comes and mentions that she cannot participate in the day's activity because she will be narrating the Fireside Girls Audio Tour Compendium Guide. Candace decides that she will take over the task and finish it by 4:00 pm, to Isabella's delight. Candace needs someone who excels at audio settings, and Irving, behind the fence, agrees to help her.

Perry is briefed by Major Monogram in his lair. Monogram informs Perry that some smell of sugar and icing is coming from Doofenshmirtz's building and tells him to check on his nemesis. At the Fireside Girls lodge secret bunker, Irving prepares the recording and tells Candace that they can start whenever she's ready. Candace then starts reading the Compendium Guide. Hours later, Candace starts to lose her voice. Irving offers her to take a break, but she decides to keep going. At the backyard, the rock climbing wall is finished and the kids begin climbing it to the top.

Meanwhile, Perry arrives at Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated and is greeted by Doofenshmirtz, who traps him in a gingerbread house. Doofenshmirtz explains that his brother is successful because of his dinner parties, in which he charms his guests. Doofenshmirtz built the Bring-Out-Dessert-inator to end his brother's parties before they began, since when the dessert comes out, the party is over.

As Doofenshmirtz starts to ramble, Perry throws one of the gumdrop slippers at the inator, causing it to hit Doofenshmirtz, who then realizes that his inator works, but gets annoyed for getting hit by it. He tries to force Perry to eat the dessert, but Perry bites his hand and causes the bars on the gingerbread house to break. They both start a dessert fight, shoving desserts in each other mouths. As they continue to fight, they both start to have a sugar rush.

At the Fireside Girls lodge secret bunker, Candace finishes the Compendium Guide, but is exhausted and her voice has dried up. At the backyard, the kids reach the top. As Buford gets light-headed, Phineas suggests that they should start climbing down. At Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated, Perry and Doofenshmirtz are suffering from the sugar rush. They both start jumping up and down to see which one of them will crash first from the sugar.

Candace runs to the backyard and sees the rock climbing wall is still there as the kids reach the ground. Candace tells Isabella that she finished the Compendium Guide and Irving had started uploading the record to the Fireside Girls mainframe. Isabella thanks her for what she did. As Candace tries to call Linda, she realizes that she lost her voice due to her throat being dried up and decides to wait for her mom to come home.

As Perry and Doofenshmirtz continue to jump up and down, Doofenshmirtz feels the sugar crash and sees that the Bring-Out-Dessert-inator is launching, and that Roger's dinner is about to start. Perry then suffers a sugar crash and sees the inator fly away. Perry takes off his fedora, eats some food to get his energy back, and follows the inator via jetpack. The inator then fires and hits Linda as she and the other guests arrive at the backyard, making her offer everyone some dessert.

Perry reaches the Bring-Out-Dessert-inator. Doofenshmirtz talks to him via speaker and inadvertently reveals that the self-destruct button is next to the speaker. Perry presses it and destroys the Bring-Out-Dessert-inator. Candace tries to call Linda, but Linda can't hear her, so Candace decides to go get her mom. The kids see a flock of Bent-Bill Nut-Hatch take the rock climbing wall away. Candace brings Linda outside, but the rock climbing wall is gone. Linda sees the Bent-Bill Nut-Hatch on Candace's head and takes a picture of it, thanking Candace for dragging her out to see the bird.

Running Gags[]

The "Too Young" Line[]

None.

Ferb's Line[]

The Bent-Bill Nut-Hatch flock flies in and takes all the materials from the boys' invention, dismantling it in the process.
Phineas: Well, I guess they've got a lot of nests to make. We did build the thing out of pressed twigs and lawn clippings.
Ferb: Nature's little recyclers at work.
Ferb: Some tea with honey would help that throat. And, there's crumpets in the conservatory as well. (walks off)
Candace: He's so British.

Whatcha doin'?[]

Isabella: (sadly) Hi Phineas. Whatcha doin'?
Phineas: Hey Isabella, rock climbing wall.
Isabella: Well, I just came by to tell you that I can't join in the fun today. I've been charge of the task of recording the audio book version of the Fireside Girls Compendium Guide. It's gonna take forever.

Where's Perry?[]

Isabella: (to Candace) But do you know anyone who can work a state-of-the-art soundboard? Someone who can edit huge digital files? Someone who can understand basic mike-ing techniques?
Irving: (slowly peeps over the side of a fence and emits small squealing noises)
Candace: (annoyed) What is it, Irving?
Irving: Okay, I'll do it. But only if Isabella says "where's Perry?"
Candace: No deal.
Irving: You drive a hard bargain, I admit.
Isabella: It's okay, I was about to ask that anyway!

Oh, there you are, Perry[]

None.

Memorable Quotes[]

Linda: You see? Our daughter likes it!

Lawrence: Oh yes, and I'm British, so you think I'm supposed to like bird-watching. *starts acting like an ordinary British person ironically* Ooh, I'm British, so I'll be in the conservatory with a cup of tea and a crumpet! *ends it*

I'm saying that, ironically, but actually, that sounds quite good. So, I'm going to do that. Ta!
Phineas: Is everybody all strapped in their harness?
Baljeet: Ready. Although, it is the worst wedgie I have ever had.
Buford: Oh, really?
Baljeet: Present company excluded.
Candace: (in a hoarse voice) In conclusion, may your Fireside Girl experience be a treasured one with memories for a lifetime. The end.
Irving: Umm... I'd like you to do one more take on that last chapter.
Candace: I'd like to hurt you.
Irving: That's a wrap!
Buford: Hey guys! I can see my thoughts! They're all sparkly and spread out around us.
Baljeet: It is the lack of oxygen; it makes you light-headed.
Phineas: I think it's time to climb down.
Baljeet: Ha-ha, coming down!
Buford: Oh I get it, we're in space. AAAAAGHAAGH! I heard that.
Doofenshmirtz: Can you do this, Perry the Platypus? Can you jump really fast, up and down, up and down, up and down, up and down? Yeah, that's it, Perry the Platypus! Doesn't it feel good? Let's be jumping buddies. Let's just eat dessert and jump up and down and up and down and up and down all day. It'll be our thing. Just remember: I-I invented this. Because I am the inventor.
Doofenshmirtz: (after Perry leaves) Okay, but, but let's do that jumping thing again sometime.

Background Information[]

  • Doofenshmirtz and Perry are shown having a sugar rush after consuming a lot of desserts. This is a common misconception, as sugar does not cause hyperactivity.

Errors[]

  • When Candace is recording, the reflection in the glass to the soundbooth shows the Fireside Girls cover on the back of the book.
  • When Perry leaps towards Doofenshmirtz and shoves him a cake, Doofenshmirtz's mouth has a different dirt colour and Perry has a dirt even before he eats one.
  • Perry's "hair" is missing when he takes off his hat to get the proteins and carbohydrates.
  • When Doofenshmirtz starts explaining his plan in the gingerbread house, the window Perry is looking through is about knee to mid-thigh high on Doofenshmirtz, making Perry appear shorter. As Doofenshmirtz explains his plan, the window becomes waist high on Doofenshmirtz, restoring Perry to his proper height.

Continuity[]

None.

Allusions[]

  • "Just deserts" - The episode's title is a play on this expression used to refer to someone deserving of something.
  • Alien - When at the very top of the rock climbing wall, Buford screams and says "I heard that". This is a reference to the famous tagline of this film, "In space, no one can hear you scream".
  • "Hansel and Gretel" - Doofenshmirtz using a gingerbread house to trap Perry alludes to this story.
  • TARDIS - When Doofenshmirtz looks into the gingerbread house trap after trapping Perry, he mentions that it is bigger on the inside, which is how this time machine is commonly described.
