Dan Povenmire, whom as most readers of this wiki probably know is the co-creator and co-executive producer of Phineas and Ferb, the voice of Dr. Doofenshmirtz, and so many other things that I would have no room for the rest of this blog if I were to list them, is welcoming a new addition to his non-animated family, as his sister Tiana (the namesake for Aunt Tiana from the episode "Candace's Big Day") will be having a new baby boy named Sullivan in December. Unfortunately, this is not as happy an occasion as it should be, as Sullivan will be born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a rare condition which affects approximately 1,000 babies born every year in which the left side of the heart is underdeveloped during pregnancy, making it difficult for blood to circulate throughout the body. The diagram at right shows how underdeveloped the heart of a child with HLHS can be. Because of this dangerous condition, little Sullivan will require three surgeries: one shortly after his birth, one at six months, and one at three years.
Thankfully, much as he did two years ago for a old family friend with a serious condition, Dan Povenmire is stepping in to help his sister in her time of need. On Saturday, November 2, Povenmire will be appearing at a fundraiser at the Cone University Center at the University of North Carolina Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina. A $10 donation is the ticket price, and additional donations will be accepted for autographed posters as well as chances to win additional prizes such as a voicemail message from Dr. Doofenshmirtz. More information is available at the event website.
For those not able to make the trek out to North Carolina (which probably includes most of us), Povenmire has also designed an original T-shirt with an original drawing of Phineas, Ferb, and Perry (seen at right), the proceeds from which will also go to help fund Sullivan's surgery. T-shirts are $25 each, will begin shipping starting November 4, and are available here. A donation of any amount may also be given through this PayPal link.
My best wishes to the entire extended Povenmire clan - both flesh and blood and pen and ink - and baby Sullivan. May the joy you've given us through Phineas and Ferb be repaid to you and your nephew a hundred fold.
