Wikia upgraded the editor recently, but they are still working on getting rid of all the bugs. One of the most common bugs we've seen is when someone makes an edit and the page is suddenly filled with code like this:
<p data-rte-fromparser="true"><img data-rte-meta="%7B%22type%22%3A%22double-brackets%22%2C%22lineStart%22%3A%221%22%2C%22title%22%3A%22
This is primarily happening in the Visual mode rather than Source mode. (Visual mode replaced the old Rich Text Editor and Source mode is the equivalent of the standard editor.)
Wikia tech support says that this happens when people save a page before the editor has completed processing the page. Until that is fixed there's two things we need to do.
- Wait a couple seconds before clicking on Save when editing a page.
- When it occurs, just use Undo to fix the edit.
Because we have to Undo all the extra and unnecessary code this new editor is adding, we'll lose the new information the person wanted to add. I've looked at the pages when this happens and they get so mangled that it's too difficult to manually fix them and keep the new info.
So, just understand that "undo happens to everyone" and it's not your fault this time.
